CALL FOR PAPERS: OPEN

The success of the Ohio APCO/NENA Joint State Conference 2026 is built on the knowledge and experience shared by the outstanding speakers who lead our educational sessions. These presenters are the heart of the conference, providing valuable insights, practical skills, and innovative ideas that help strengthen the public safety communications profession.

 

The Call for Papers submission link is now live (below), and the conference committee is currently accepting presentation proposals from interested speakers. Submissions will be accepted through July 15, 2026, and we encourage professionals from across the industry to share their expertise and experiences.

Call for Papers Track Categories

Frontline Dispatchers

This track is designed for telecommunicators who are actively taking calls or dispatching units. It focuses on the day-to-day operational skills used in the communications center for the frontline communication dispatcher.

 

Typical topics include, but are not limited to:

  • 9-1-1 call-taking techniques

  • Handling high-risk or critical incidents

  • Stress management and dispatcher wellness

  • Customer service and caller control

Leadership

This track focuses on supervisors, trainers, managers, and people who want to move into leadership roles in a communications center.

Typical topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and management skills

  • Supervising dispatch personnel

  • Conflict resolution and employee discipline

  • Building team culture

  • Training and mentoring staff

  • Staffing challenges and retention

Technical

This track is aimed at people who work with the technology behind 9-1-1 systems or who need to understand it operationally. That includes radio technicians, IT staff, coordinators, and administrators.

Typical topics include, but are not limited to:

  • NG9-1-1 (Next Generation 9-1-1)

  • CAD systems and integration

  • Radio systems and interoperability

  • Cybersecurity for communications centers

  • GIS mapping and location technology

  • AI, drones, and emerging tech in public safety

  • Facebook
